The Department was established on October the11 th 2004 as one of the subdivisions of the Philological Research Institute of St. Petersburg State University.

The main lines of activities are:

to carry out research planning
to provide technical maintenance and financial management of grants and research schemes
to forecast the development of financial situation of the Institute
to carry out technical maintenance of financial planning and forecasting
to organize financial resources and to keep stock of them
to carry out analysis of the effectiveness of financial relations
to evaluate the efficiency of financial and economic activity
to determine financing requirements
to make quarterly and annual reports for the Department of Education of the Russian Federation
to make statistical reports
to hold the contest of scientific works
to hold the contest among the candidates who are in for the scientific posts
to organise national and international conferences
to hold the Academic Council of the Philological Research Institute
to prepare the «Bulletin of the Philological Research Institute» for the publication
